Irfan A. Handoo was born in Columbia, Maryland. He grew up in Leawood, Kansas and graduated from Blue Valley North High School. Dr. Handoo earned his undergraduate degree from UMKC and his Medical Doctorate at the UMKC School of Medicine in 2005. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Handoo completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center at Wichita, where he also completed a fellowship in psychopharmacology. He does have experience in residency as a sub-investigator for clinical research trials. Dr. Handoo is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Handoo does have expertise in treating patients with IV ketamine for treatment-resistant depression and has an emphasis in his practice on ketamine. Dr. Handoo has been published in several journals, including The Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. He sees patients for a wide variety of disorders, including but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Eating Disorders, and Personality Disorders. Dr. Handoo has a clinical interest in Treatment-Resistant Depression and does see patients for IV ketamine treatments for depression and TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for treatment-resistant depression. Dr. Handoo sees patients ages 15 and older in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations at PAKC's office in Leawood. Dr. Handoo is fluent in English, Spanish, and Urdu.
